7 Eco-Friendly Deodorants That Work & Smell Great, 2022

Switching to an eco-friendly deodorant is a smart choice for anyone with environmental concerns, and in 2022 natural beauty will be all the rage. Here are seven brands that offer everything from organic stick deodorant to body sprays made with essential oils. Their scents are pleasant but subtle, so they won’t overpower your perfume or cologne.

All natural deodorant

If you’re looking for an all-natural, eco-friendly deodorant that smells great and works to keep you fresh all day long, look no further than Kikki.K’s organic deodorant. Composed of plant-based oils and essential oils, it goes on smooth and dries quickly—all without clogging your pores or damaging your skin. And when it comes to scent? This baby is strong enough to mask even body odor without a hint of aggression! Plus, with its smooth texture and ability to stick around for more than a few hours, you won’t have to worry about having sticky fingers or greasy clothes throughout your workday.

Green tea deodorant

Not only does it smell great, but green tea is also a powerful antioxidant. Tea Tree: Tea tree oil is one of nature’s most potent antiseptics, perfect for a deodorant that fights odor-causing bacteria under your arms. Aloe Vera: If you use an aloe vera plant in your home as an air freshener or to heal burns, try making it part of your deodorant routine too! This multi-use beauty product can reduce inflammation and help regulate your body temperature. Coconut Oil: Unlike regular coconut oil, coconut oil in its solid form contains antibacterial properties that are ideal for fighting odor.

Natural deodorant review

There are several organic and natural options for antiperspirants on the market, including Crystal Body Deodorant. This one is nice because it’s entirely organic, vegan, and contains no aluminum. It also smells great (there are a ton of scents to choose from), goes on smoothly, absorbs quickly, and does a good job at keeping you dry. An added bonus? It doesn’t leave any stains on your clothes! Another favorite of mine is Meow Meow Tweet deodorant, which comes in tiny jars—meaning it’s easy to travel with.

Organic antiperspirant

Some women have been ditching synthetic deodorant in favor of using an organic alternative. The rise of natural, botanical fragrances has also helped push demand for these products. As a result, we can expect to see further innovation in ingredients and a move toward more eco-friendly options that are just as effective and smell great, too. In particular, companies should focus on new fragrance profiles such as woody/earthy/spicy notes that can be complementary to organic antiperspirant formulations while still masking odor effectively. Finally, increasing demand for clean beauty will lead to greater selection at stores where these products are sold, thus increasing sales volume overall.

Aloe vera deodorant

Aloe vera is a great natural remedy for irritated skin—and it can help to keep you smelling fresh as well. If you’re not familiar with aloe vera, it comes from a plant that bears tiny white flowers and has been used for centuries in various parts of the world. It was likely used by ancient Egyptians, who used its juice to treat burns and other wounds, and today it’s also commonly found in beauty products because of its healing properties. I personally love Lush Cosmetics' Fresh Farmacy solid deodorant, which contains aloe vera among other amazing ingredients. Plus, it smells wonderful! The rest of their products contain amazing ingredients as well and are 100% vegetarian-friendly!

Lavender deodorant

Lavender is a herb that has been used in traditional medicine for centuries. In fact, lavender oil is a common ingredient in many essential oils. Because of its natural antiseptic and antimicrobial properties, some people also use it as a treatment for dandruff and other scalp conditions. There are countless recipes online for DIY lavender deodorant; feel free to experiment with your own lavender essential oil blend.

Tom's Of Maine Deodorant

My favorite natural deodorant is Tom's Of Maine. It applies moisture but dries rapidly with no residue. Tom's has a minor propensity to irritate delicate skin because it's produced with baking soda, which is a frequent ingredient in traditional antiperspirants, but I can typically use it without problems. It has a mild, fresh aroma that lasts all day. My husband claims that Tom smells great when he uses it, and we're quite sure that was his way of indicating that his pits were dry for the first time. But, in all seriousness, I haven't discovered another natural deodorant that works as well as Tom's.
